Trump visits southern border amid growing crisis, declaring that ‘our country is full’

President Trump on Friday visited the southern border amid an escalating immigration crisis, saying that “our country is full” and warning potential migrants thinking about crossing into the U.S. that this country "can’t take you anymore.”

“Whether it’s asylum, whether it’s anything you want, it’s illegal immigration, can’t take you anymore. Our country is full, our area is full, the sector is full, can’t take you anymore. I’m sorry, can’t happen, so turn around -- that’s the way it is,” he said at a roundtable in Calexico, Calif., with law enforcement and immigration officials.

TRUMP CONFIRMS HE NIXED ICE DIRECTOR NOMINATION, SAYS HE WANTS TO GO 'IN A TOUGHER DIRECTION'

Trump also toured a two-mile border stretch of 30-foot fencing in the area, which has recently been rebuilt. Trump has used that barrier to declare that his central campaign promise of a wall on the southern border is being fulfilled despite significant opposition in Congress.

“It looks great, it’s better and much more effective than previous wall, and we can actually do it faster and it’s less expensive, if you can believe it,” he told reporters in front of the barrier.

The White House says the barrier is marked with a plaque bearing Trump's name and those of top Homeland Security officials. During the roundtable, officials also handed the commander in chief a plaque that contained a piece of the rebuilt barrier.

Trump declared a national emergency on the border in February after Congress agreed to only a fraction of the $5.6 billion he had requested for the wall. That declaration, which was opposed by Democrats and some Republicans, gives the administration access to more than $3 billion in funding that can be used on the wall.

But statistics show that there has been a surge in border crossings in recent months, and the administration has struggled to cope. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said last week that the U.S. was on track to apprehend more than 100,000 border crossers in March -- marking a 12-year high. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has said the administration is treating it as a “Cat 5 hurricane disaster.”

Trump said at the roundtable that since October, agents in the El Centro sector in Southern California have seen a nearly 400 percent increase in family units arriving in the sector.

“It’s a colossal surge, and its overwhelming our immigration system, and we can’t let that happen,” he said.

OBAMA'S BORDER CHIEF WARNS CONGRESS: IMMIGRATION CRISIS 'AT A MAGNITUDE' NEVER SEEN IN MODERN TIMES

Gloria Chavez, CBP's chief patrol agent for the El Centro sector, welcomed Trump and told reporters that since the barrier has been rebuilt, assaults on Border Patrol agents have dropped by 60 percent in the area, while illegal entries have dropped by 75 percent.

Trump has escalated his rhetoric on immigration in recent days, threatening to close the border if Mexico does not stop the flows of migrants and if Congress does not act to end what he calls “loopholes” in immigration law that allow detained migrants to be released into the U.S. until a scheduled court date.

He had said last week that he was prepared to close the border this week, but on Thursday he appeared to back away from that threat and said he was giving Mexico a “one-year warning,” and also threatened tariffs on cars from Mexico.

On Friday, he told reporters that Mexico has done more in the last four days to stop migrants coming across the border, but he said he was prepared to slap a 25 percent tariff on cars coming from Mexico if that does not continue.

“I never changed my mind, I may shut it down at some point, but I’d rather do tariffs. Mexico, I have to say has been very very good over the last four days...if they continue that everything will be fine, if they don’t we’re going to tariff cars at 25 percent coming into the United States,” he said.

He also said he was considering separate economic penalties over drugs “coming in through the southern border and killing our people” although he did not specify what those penalties would be.

As a sign that he wants his administration to do more to crack down on illegal immigration, Trump confirmed on Friday that he has pulled the nomination of Ron Vitiello to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), saying his administration will go “in a tougher direction.”

“Ron’s a good man, but we’re going in a tougher direction, we want to go in a tougher direction,” he said.

After the border visit, Trump is scheduled to appear in fundraisers in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and address the Republican Jewish Coalition.

Report: Cummings Accepts Cohen Correction on Pardon Claim

Michael Cohen is off the hook for misleading the House Oversight Committee about his claim he never asked President Donald Trump for a pardon, The Washington Times reported.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., said the president's onetime personal lawyer has now clarified through his own attorney that his testimony "could have been clearer," the news outlet reported.

"Our practice on this committee is to give witnesses an opportunity to clarify their testimony, and that is what Mr. Cohen has done," Cummings said, the news outlet reported. "I do not see the need for further action — at least at this time."

In his Feb. 27 opening statement to the committee, Cohen declared: "I have never asked for, nor would I accept, a pardon from President Trump."

His lawyers say he stands by that statement — but only in reference to after June 2018, when he left a joint defense agreement with Trump, the news outlet reported. They also admit a previous attorney acting on behalf of Cohen did sound out the president's lawyers about a pardon.

The excuse did not fly with Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio and Mark Meadows, R-N.C., who have already asked the Justice Department to investigate if Cohen should face new charges over misleading the committee, the  Times reported.

"They're walking back a claim made unequivocally under oath. 'Never' didn't really mean 'never.' Laughable," Meadows tweeted.

Georgia mayoral race event bars non-black reporters from entering

The organizers of a community meeting held in Savannah, Georgia on Wednesday evening to discuss the city’s upcoming mayoral race only allowed black reporters to attend.

Organizers of the meeting at the Bolton Street Baptist Church, which was put on by Rev. Clarence Teddy Williams, reportedly posted signs stating “Black press only” on the doors of the church.

At least two black reporters and the publisher of a local African-American newspaper were allowed inside, the Savannah Morning News reported. Television crews were also prohibited from entering.

MARYLAND STATE LAWMAKERS VOTE UNANIMOUSLY TO CENSURE HOUSE DEMOCRAT OVER RACIAL SLUR

Williams did not return Fox News’ request for comment, but an advertisement for the meeting on the Facebook of the Trigon Group, a consulting firm Williams’ owners, states that the event is for “Black Media ONLY!”

Van Johnson, a Savannah city councilman and one of three black mayoral candidates to have announced campaigns so far, attended the Wednesday meeting at Bolton Street Baptist Church. Johnson said afterward he relayed “my vision for an inclusive Savannah, a progressive Savannah.”

Asked by WTOC-TV about only black reporters being allowed inside, Johnson said: “It’s not my meeting. Again, I was asked to come give a statement, and so I came and I gave a statement.”

Johnson issued a revised statement on Thursday on Facebook, calling the organizer’s decision to ban certain journalists “unfortunate” and saying he expressed his concerns with them over their move.

“I have expressed my concerns to the organizers of this event as my history of service in this community has ALWAYS been one of inclusion, of partnership and of communication,” Johnson said in a statement. “While this decision of this group is unfortunate, I work toward the day when we trust each other enough to be inclusive in all of our gatherings.”

Louis Wilson, who says he’s running for mayor again after an unsuccessful 2015 campaign, also attended the meeting.

Regina Thomas, a former Georgia state senator and one of the incumbent mayor’s black challengers, skipped the church gathering Wednesday. She said the meeting appeared divisive and was scheduled too early in the campaign. The deadline for candidates to sign up for the race is Aug. 23. Thomas said she also had a scheduling conflict: her Bible study group met Wednesday night.

The Wednesday meeting in Savannah was held to try to unite the city’s black community behind a single candidate for mayor in the Nov. 5 election.

Mayor Eddie DeLoach is seeking re-election this fall. He became Savannah’s first white mayor in 20 years after winning the 2015 campaign. Elections for Savannah’s top office are nonpartisan, meaning all candidates who qualify end up on the November ballot.

Proposed New Texas Law Would Demand Safety Studies for Vaccines

While the rest of the country is advancing towards medical tyranny, legislators from the Lone Star State are working to preserve health freedom. State lawmakers have put forth multiple vaccine measures that need support. One such measure, S.B. 2350, will mandate the need for legitimate vaccine safety studies. Legislators are also pushing to ensure no parent is forced to vaccine their child in the state of Texas.

Proponents of the vaccine industry have been quick to label these efforts as “misinformation” intended to “stoke fear” about vaccine safety.

Ironically, many of these pro-vaccine rags blither on about measles “outbreaks” while disparaging dissent to the vaccine narrative — even though most outbreaks are actually caused by the measles vaccine. Remember folks, its only “fear-mongering” if you’re going against the grain. The fact of the matter is that vaccine propagandists rely heavily on scare tactics and self-aggrandizement to encourage compliance with pharmaceutical dogma. Without those two tools, vaccines would be seen for what they are: poison.

Texas legislators demand vaccine safety studies

Senator Bob Hall (R) recently introduced S.B. 2350, a bill which would mandate the necessity of legitimate safety studies before a vaccine can be administered by healthcare providers. As Tenth Amendment Center reports, the bill will toughen up on vaccine safety requirements and how safety studies are performed.

As Natural News has previously reported, it is not at all uncommon for Big Pharma (and their government pawns) to manipulate data in their favor. Recall the CDC’s treasonous act of scientific fraud regarding the MMR vaccine for proof of how far that stain has spread.

The power of the elements: Discover Colloidal Silver Mouthwash with quality, natural ingredients like Sangre de Drago sap, black walnut hulls, menthol crystals and more. Zero artificial sweeteners, colors or alcohol. Learn more at the Health Ranger Store and help support this news site.

While vaccine propagandists like to pretend vaccine science is infallible, that notion simply couldn’t be further from the truth. The new regulations proposed by SB 2350 would mandate “sufficient” time for vaccine side effects to be observed post-vaccination in safety studies, and would also demand that all vaccines be evaluated for their ability to cause cancer, fertility issues, neurological changes and other unintended consequences.

You can read S.B. 2350 in full here.

More bills to preserve health freedom in Texas

Sen. Hall is not alone in his efforts to fight for health freedom in the state of Texas. Representative Bill Zedler (R) has introduced H.B. 4274, a bill which will require healthcare providers to obtain informed consent before administering a vaccine.

Under Zedler’s informed consent bill, providers must give patients (or their caregivers) information on the risks and benefits of vaccination and a list of the ingredients in every vaccine administered. Information on the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, and what recourse patients have in the event of vaccine injury, must also be disclosed.

Zedler told reporters that he is “adamantly opposed to people being forced” into vaccinating their children. He’s also stated that people should have the freedom to choose what, if any, vaccines their kids get.

You can read H.B. 4274 in full here.

Rep. Matt Krause is also leading the charge on a new bill designed to simplify the process of filing a vaccine exemption, H.B. 1490. Under this bill, the Texas Department of State Health Services would be prohibited from “maintaining a record” of vaccine exemptions. The legislation would also make it easier for Texas residents to obtain a vaccine exemption form. Currently, citizens must submit a written request to the state health department. If the bill passes, exemption forms will be available online, making the whole process much more accessible.

You can read H.B. 1490 in full here.

These bills need support in order to pass. You can find out who your Texas representatives are here. For all those concerned with preserving health freedom in the United States, the time to act is now. Vaccine tyranny has already come to states like California and New York. It’s time to send Big Pharma a message they won’t soon forget: Medical tyranny isn’t welcome here.

Russian lawmaker cheers findings of Mueller's report

A senior Russian lawmaker has welcomed the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian involvement in the U.S. presidential election, saying this gives the countries a chance to mend ties.

Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the foreign affairs committee in the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, said in a social media post on Monday that Mueller's probe was accompanied by "two years of incessant lies," but proved that there was no collusion, something that "we in Russia knew from the start."

Mueller's report found no evidence that U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign conspired with Russian officials to influence the 2016 elections.

Kosachev said the conclusion of the investigation gives Trump enough space to repair ties with Russia, but he said he is uncertain if Trump will "take this risk."

Building fire, explosion kills at least one and injures more than a dozen in North Carolina

One person has been killed and at least 15 are injured after an explosion and massive fire at a building in downtown Durham, North Carolina on Wednesday.

Plumes of smoke can be seen for miles and debris covers the busy street as firefighters work to secure the area where the blast took place after a construction worker drilled into the sidewalk and struck a two-inch gas line, police told ABC News.

Among those injured is a firefighter who was hospitalized in serious condition, police say, and a Dominion Energy worker.

The explosion, which took place near the Durham School of the Arts, was so severe that it blew out the windows of surrounding buildings, causing injuries such as deep cuts and head wounds to those inside, 58-year-old Jim Rogalski said.

"It was terrifying," he said. "The whole building shook. Things started falling — ceiling tiles, and structure and glass and debris. Lots and lots of dust. It was tough to see beyond 20 feet or so."

The explosion reportedly took place just 15 minutes after his human resource's manager emailed the company alerting employees that the fire department was investigating the smell of gas.

Multiple people died Thursday when a semitrailer plowed into stationary traffic that resulted in explosions and flames on a Colorado freeway, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. in the Denver suburb of Lakewood when a truck driver lost control while traveling east on Interstate 70, according to a preliminary investigation. The collision started a chain reaction and a diesel fuel spill, Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman told the Denver Post.

“This is looking to be one of the worst accidents we’ve had here in Lakewood,” he said.

The driver of the runaway truck survived. At least one truck was carrying lumber, another was hauling gravel and the third may have been carrying mattresses, KDVR-TV reported.

Lakewood police tweeted there were multiple fatalities but did not give a specific number. Six people were taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not released, according to the paper.

Lanes in both directions were closed and expected to remain so into Friday morning.

President Trump will address members and leaders of the National Rifle Association on Friday at the group’s annual convention in Indiana.

Around 80,000 gun enthusiasts and more than 800 exhibitors are expected to pack the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis for the three-day event, the Indianapolis Star reported. It will mark the third straight year that Trump will deliver the keynote address, where he is expected to champion the rights of gun owners.

“Donald Trump is the most enthusiastic supporter of the Second Amendment to occupy the Oval Office in our lifetimes,” Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (ILA), said in a statement. “President Trump’s Supreme Court appointments ensure that the Second Amendment will be respected for generations to come. Our members are excited to hear him speak and thank him for his support for our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.”

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence spoke at last year’s convention in Dallas. During his speech, Trump assured gun owners that he would protect their Second Amendment rights, according to the paper.

“Your Second Amendment rights are under siege,” Trump told the cheering audience in Dallas. “But they will never, ever be under siege as long as I am your president.”

Trump has supported some gun control measures in the past. Last year, his administration imposed a ban on bump stocks, attachments that enable semiautomatic rifles to fire in rapid bursts. Although, he most recently threatened to veto two Democratic gun control bills.

This year’s convention comes as the NRA faces outside pressure and internal problems. The group has seen its legislative agenda stall amid a series of mass shootings — including a massacre at a Parkland, Fla., high school in February 2018 that left 17 dead and launched a youth movement against gun violence.

It’s also grappling with infighting in its ranks, money problems and investigations into whether Russian agents courted officials and funneled money through the group.

“I’ve never seen the NRA this vulnerable,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit that advocates for gun control measure.

The convention will run through the weekend and conclude Sunday.

BENGALURU (Reuters) – Chinese brands controlled a record 66 percent of Indian smartphone market in the first quarter, led by Xiaomi Corp, a report showed, with volumes rising 20 percent on the back of popularity for brands like Vivo, RealMe and Oppo.

Xiaomi’s India shipments fell by 2 percent over last year, but the Beijing-based company was still the biggest smartphone brand in the country, followed by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, according to Hong-Kong based Counterpoint Research.

Shipment volumes for Vivo jumped 119 percent, while those of Oppo rose 28 percent.

“Vivo’s expanding portfolio in the mid-tier range ($100 to $180) drove its growth along with aggressive Indian Premier League cricket campaign,” Counterpoint analysts said.

India is the world’s fastest growing market for smartphones, where affordable pricing coupled with features like “selfie” cameras and big screens have popularized Chinese brands.

Video streaming services like Netflix Inc and Hotstar, as well as heavy usage of messaging apps like Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp have further spurred demand.

“Data consumption is on the rise and users are upgrading their phones faster as compared to other regions,” Counterpoint’s Tarun Pathak said.

“As a result of this, the premium specs are now diffusing faster into the mid-tier price brands. We estimate this trend to continue leading to a competitive mid-tier segment in coming quarters.”

Good morning and welcome to Fox News First. Here’s a look at what you need to know today …

EXCLUSIVE: Trump says ‘Sleepy Joe’ Biden doesn’t have what it takes

President Trump, in a wide-ranging, exclusive phone interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, dismissed the launch of former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, nicknaming him “Sleepy Joe” and saying he’s “not the brightest bulb.” Biden, the president said, has name recognition but he won’t “be able to do the job.” When asked about Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Trump criticized his record, saying Sanders had “misguided energy” and asserted that Sanders “talks a lot” but hasn’t accomplished anything. The president referred to former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas as “a fluke” who had lost much momentum and outright dismissed Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg — although he said he was “rooting” for Buttigieg. (Trump could address Biden and the other Democratic presidential candidates when he speaks today before the National Rifle Association.)

The Democratic Party’s youth movement: Biden’s biggest challenge?
Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Howard Dean warned Joe Biden about the troubles he may face in his presidential campaign, especially from the “35-year-olds” who Dean says have been running the party — a clear nod to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and fellow freshmen Democrats. “This is a very different party than even the party Joe Biden ran in in 2012. Very different,” Dean continued. “A lot of people could win this race. There’s 20 people in there. I think it’s going to take $20 million to get to the starting line. If you can’t raise $20 million, you’re gone, and I think that’s going to take care of about six or eight of these folks. … But it is not the same party that it was five years ago.” A progressive political group that boosted Ocasio-Cortez’s bid for Congress last year vowed to oppose Biden and blasted him as part of the “old guard.”

More tales from the FBI texts
Text messages between former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page indicate they discussed using briefings to the Trump team after the 2016 election to identify people they could “develop for potential relationships,” track lines of questioning and “assess” changes in “demeanor” – language one GOP lawmaker called “more evidence” of irregular conduct in the original Russia probe. Fox News has learned the texts, initially released in 2018 by a Senate committee, are under renewed scrutiny, with GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley and Homeland Security Committee chair Ron Johnson sending a letter Thursday night to Attorney General Bill Barr pushing for more information on the matter. President Trump, speaking on Fox News’ “Hannity” Thursday night, responded to this report by accusing Strzok and Page of an attempted “coup.” “They were trying to infiltrate the administration,” he said.

Kim accuses US of acting in ‘bad faith’
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, fresh off his summit with  Russian President Vladimir Putin, said the U.S. has been acting in “bad faith” since his Hanoi meeting with President Trump over the stalemated issue of North Korean denuclearization. The North Korean leader told the Korean Central News Agency that, “the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the region is now at a standstill and has reached a critical point,” the Straits Times of Singapore reported. Kim warned that the situation “may return to its original state as the U.S. took a unilateral attitude in bad faith at the recent second DPRK-US summit talks,” the Korean Central News Agency added.

NFL Draft 2019: It’s all about defense
The first round of the 2019 NFL Draft saw a run on defensive players, with eight of the top 12 picks in Nashville coming from that side of the ball. After Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray was taken first overall by the Arizona Cardinals, the San Francisco 49ers started a run of four straight front-seven players by taking Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa with the second overall pick — the highest draft slot for any Buckeye since left tackle Orlando Pace went No. 1 overall to the St. Louis Rams in 1997.
