6 baby elephants freed in Thailand after getting trapped in mud pit

Six baby elephants trapped in a mud pit have been rescued by rangers at a national park in northeastern Thailand.

The elephants were unable to climb out of the slippery pit, park officials said, prompting a rescue operation to create a pathway for the creatures to escape the trap.

Rescuers took five hours on Thursday to dig a path for the elephants to clamber out of the pit. One by one the elephants then climbed out of the muddy ditch.

The animals were trapped at Thap Lan National Park in Nakhon Ratchasima province, with the head of park, Prawatsart Chantep, saying rangers discovered them on Wednesday afternoon.

Incredible! The Vatican Agrees to Sex Change Drug

The Vatican is giving its blessing for the drug used to halt puberty. The news arrived in the form of a compliant interview that the official Vatican portal Vatican News has made to the expert of Philosophy of Law, Laura Palazzani, a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life and of the National Bioethics Committee (known by the acronym CnB).

Link to the article in question: https://www.vaticannews.va/it/mondo/news/2019-03/triptorelina-palazzani-prudenza-valutazione-caso-per-caso.html

Philosophy of law is a branch of philosophy and jurisprudence that seeks to answer basic questions about law and legal systems, such as, “What is law?”, “What are the criteria for legal validity?”, “What is the relationship between law and morality?”, and many other similar questions.

The news shocked Catholic’s worldwide in the last few hours, as Palazzani has defended the recent decision of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) to include the molecule Trp-triptorelin, also known as the drug that blocks puberty, among the medicinal products available to the Italian National Health Service.

In practice, adolescents considered to suffer from Gender Identity Disorder, will be able to administer at the expense of the Italian taxpayer, this drug that will block a fundamental physiological event, puberty, for years, until the teenager decides what “gender” he wants to actually be, and the Vatican endorses this dangerous and outrageous monstrosity that may also causes lasting health problems.

The case concerns only Italy for the moment, but the official position espoused by the Vatican portal has immediate global repercussions for the Catholic Church because it is an endorsement of the gender ideology that in theory, they should be fighting.

The Vatican that says yes to a drug that helps facilitate sex change on their website is yet another indicator we are living in the End Times.

Turkey Agrees Not to Integrate Russian Tech With NATO Systems – Official

Russian S-400 air defense systems will not be integrated into any active NATO military systems, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said in Washington on Monday.

“This system will not be integrated neither with NATO’s systems nor with any other somehow connected to NATO’s national [military] systems,” the minister said during an annual US-Turkey conference in Washington.

He vowed that the decision would not change any of Turkey’s commitments to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Turkish minister also expressed hope that other NATO countries would also keep their commitments to Turkey.

The procurement of the S-400 is not an issue,” Akar said. “We believe that all disagreements can and should be resolved.”

The authoritarian establishment media is now openly reporting anyone who disagrees with them to front organizations of the military industrial complex, NATO & the Democrat Party.

Commenting on the technical discussions with the United States, the minister noted that Turkey was ready for them and it would address concerns over Ankara’s procurement of Russian S-400 air defense systems.

“We are prepared to engage in technical discussions to address US concerns over the S-400 procurement,” Akar said adding that Turkey’s move to acquire the S-400 purchase is a “national decision.”

The remarks come after earlier this month, the Pentagon announced that Washington halted deliveries and activities with Turkey on its F-35 fighter jet programme over Ankara’s decision to purchase S-400 air defense systems.

In December 2017, Russia and Turkey signed a loan agreement for the delivery of S-400 air defense systems to Ankara. The Russian-Turkish cooperation on S-400 deliveries has been criticized by NATO and the United States, which have cited security concerns and the inability of integration between S-400 and NATO’s air defense systems. Ankara, for its part, has said that the purchasing of military equipment is its sovereign affair and ruled out the possibility of abandoning the deal with Moscow.

The first S-400 shipment is expected to be delivered to Ankara in July.

President Trump has made it clear he wants to bring the troops home, but the military industrial complex remains in control of America’s military policies.

Berlin subway transport strike results in graffiti bonanza

A 24-hour transport strike in Berlin has proved a golden opportunity for the German capital's graffiti scene.

The publicly owned BVG transport company says about 140 subway cars were spray-painted during Monday's strike — about 10 percent of its underground rolling stock — despite "all security measures."

In a statement Tuesday, the company said the graffiti covered a surface of about 2,000 square meters (21,530 sq. feet).

BVG says some of the trains will have to be put into service despite being defaced, but some delays are inevitable.

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country needs to deliver a “serious blow” to those imposing sanctions through a self-reliant economy, North Korean state media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Thursday.

KCNA said Kim stated North Korea’s position on the second U.S.-North Korea summit that took place recently, saying, “We must deal a serious blow to the hostile forces who are mistakenly determined to bring us down with sanctions by advancing the socialist construction to a high level of self-reliance that fits our circumstances and state, based on our own power, technology and resources.”

North Korea is expected to convene a session of its legislature, the Supreme People’s Assembly, on Thursday, while U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to hold a summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in later on Thursday.

Poll: Rep. Mo Brooks Would Beat Roy Moore in Senate Primary

Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., would defeat former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore by a wide margin in a Republican primary to see who would compete for Democratic Sen. Doug Jones’ seat, according to a poll conducted for the Club for Growth.

Here are how the poll results break down:

  • 52 percent would vote for Brooks and 32 percent for Moore in a head-to-head contest.
  • 61 percent of those with an opinion of both candidates would vote for Brooks and 27 percent for Moore.

“The Club for Growth polling clearly shows Mo Brooks is the best choice to defeat Roy Moore,” said Club for Growth Action President David McIntosh. “Mo Brooks would be a fighter for economic freedom and represent Alabamians well in the US Senate.”

Jones defeated Moore in 2017 for the Senate seat.

The poll, conducted WPA Intelligence on March 10-12, surveyed 501 likely Republican primary voters in Alabama. It has a margin of error of 4.4 percent.

A California man who allegedly fatally shot his ex-girlfriend in broad daylight last month before fleeing the country has been returned to the U.S. following his arrest in Mexico on Wednesday, authorities said.

Julio Cesar Rocha, 25, of Montlcair, is accused of shooting his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend Thalia Flores and a second unidentified male victim March 21 around 2:45 p.m. while the two were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of a discount store in Chino. Both communities are about 36 miles east of Los Angeles.

Flores died at the scene. The man, whose name was not released, walked to a nearby hospital where he’s recovering from his gunshot wounds.

Rocha allegedly fled the scene and remained at large for more than a month, the Daily Bulletin reported. He was formally arrested at 4:30 p.m. after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport from Mexico, KTLA-TV reported.

The suspect was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on murder and attempted murder charges, the City of Chino Police Department said on Facebook.

Flores ended her seven-year relationship with Rocha just two months before her death and still lived in fear of him until that point, a sister of the victim, Bernice Flores, told the Daily Bulletin.

“He said himself so many times to other people, ‘If I can’t have her, no one will.’ ” Flores said, adding that her sister stayed in the relationship longer that she would have liked in fear that Rocha would hurt her or her family if they broke up.

Rocha was convicted on misdemeanor battery in 2016 and sentenced to 60 days in prison. He was originally charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, but the charges were lowered in a plea deal, the Daily Bulletin reported.

Rocha was convicted of misdemeanor resisting or obstructing a peace officer in 2014. A second charge of misdemeanor battery was dropped in a plea deal, and Rocha was ordered to complete a 26-week anger management course, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court records. Rocha was later arrested and sentenced to 10 days behind bars for failing to complete the course.

Multiple people died Thursday when a semitrailer plowed into stationary traffic that resulted in explosions and flames on a Colorado freeway, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. in the Denver suburb of Lakewood when a truck driver lost control while traveling east on Interstate 70, according to a preliminary investigation. The collision started a chain reaction and a diesel fuel spill, Lakewood police spokesman Ty Countryman told the Denver Post.

“This is looking to be one of the worst accidents we’ve had here in Lakewood,” he said.

The driver of the runaway truck survived. At least one truck was carrying lumber, another was hauling gravel and the third may have been carrying mattresses, KDVR-TV reported.

President Trump will address members and leaders of the National Rifle Association on Friday at the group’s annual convention in Indiana.

Around 80,000 gun enthusiasts and more than 800 exhibitors are expected to pack the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis for the three-day event, the Indianapolis Star reported. It will mark the third straight year that Trump will deliver the keynote address, where he is expected to champion the rights of gun owners.

“Donald Trump is the most enthusiastic supporter of the Second Amendment to occupy the Oval Office in our lifetimes,” Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (ILA), said in a statement. “President Trump’s Supreme Court appointments ensure that the Second Amendment will be respected for generations to come. Our members are excited to hear him speak and thank him for his support for our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.”

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence spoke at last year’s convention in Dallas. During his speech, Trump assured gun owners that he would protect their Second Amendment rights, according to the paper.

“Your Second Amendment rights are under siege,” Trump told the cheering audience in Dallas. “But they will never, ever be under siege as long as I am your president.”

Trump has supported some gun control measures in the past. Last year, his administration imposed a ban on bump stocks, attachments that enable semiautomatic rifles to fire in rapid bursts. Although, he most recently threatened to veto two Democratic gun control bills.

This year’s convention comes as the NRA faces outside pressure and internal problems. The group has seen its legislative agenda stall amid a series of mass shootings — including a massacre at a Parkland, Fla., high school in February 2018 that left 17 dead and launched a youth movement against gun violence.

It’s also grappling with infighting in its ranks, money problems and investigations into whether Russian agents courted officials and funneled money through the group.

“I’ve never seen the NRA this vulnerable,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit that advocates for gun control measure.

The convention will run through the weekend and conclude Sunday.

(Reuters) – Ailing British retailer Debenhams said two proposed company voluntary arrangements (CVA) could see all its stores remaining open during 2019, with 22 closures planned for next year, putting about 1,200 jobs at risk.

Debenhams’ lenders took control of the retailer earlier this month in a process designed to keep its shops open at the expense of shareholders.

BENGALURU (Reuters) – Chinese brands controlled a record 66 percent of Indian smartphone market in the first quarter, led by Xiaomi Corp, a report showed, with volumes rising 20 percent on the back of popularity for brands like Vivo, RealMe and Oppo.

Xiaomi’s India shipments fell by 2 percent over last year, but the Beijing-based company was still the biggest smartphone brand in the country, followed by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, according to Hong-Kong based Counterpoint Research.

Shipment volumes for Vivo jumped 119 percent, while those of Oppo rose 28 percent.

“Vivo’s expanding portfolio in the mid-tier range ($100 to $180) drove its growth along with aggressive Indian Premier League cricket campaign,” Counterpoint analysts said.

India is the world’s fastest growing market for smartphones, where affordable pricing coupled with features like “selfie” cameras and big screens have popularized Chinese brands.

Video streaming services like Netflix Inc and Hotstar, as well as heavy usage of messaging apps like Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp have further spurred demand.

“Data consumption is on the rise and users are upgrading their phones faster as compared to other regions,” Counterpoint’s Tarun Pathak said.

“As a result of this, the premium specs are now diffusing faster into the mid-tier price brands. We estimate this trend to continue leading to a competitive mid-tier segment in coming quarters.”
