To impeach or not to impeach? Joe Biden has a big 2020 announcement; Putin and Kim have ‘good’ nuke talks #MagaFirstNews w/@PeterBoykin Ready, set … Joe? Biden expected to launch 2020 presidential campaign After months of speculation, former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to officially announce Thursday morning that he’s joining the crowded field of Democrats running for president in 2020. Biden is expected to release a video with his announcement. Despite the recent #MeToo See More controversy where several women accused him of touching them inappropriately at events, Biden, 76, has remained at the top of most public opinion polls. His strongest competition for the Democratic nomination right now is Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., 77, who has stirred controversy this week for his support for allowing prisoners to vote. Sanders also has faced tough crowds at recent town halls and gatherings, most recently at a She The People Forum devoted to women of color in Houston on Wednesday night, where hecklers left the self-described democratic socialist visibly frustrated. When Kim met Putin Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said Thursday they had good talks about their joint efforts to resolve a standoff over Pyongyang’s nuclear program, amid stalled negotiations with the United States. Speaking at the start of the talks at a university on Russky Island across a bridge from Vladivostok, Putin voiced confidence that Kim’s visit will “help better understand what should be done to settle the situation on the Korean Peninsula, what we can do together, what Russia can do to support the positive processes going on now.” Kim’s trip to Russia, his first, comes about two months after his Hanoi summit with President Trump failed because of disputes over U.S.-led sanctions on the North. Putin, observers say, wants to expand Russia’s clout in the region and gain more leverage with Washington. – The Associated Press To impeach or not to impeach? Leading Democrats and 2020 Democratic candidates for president have been divided over whether to pursue impeachment against President Trump since last week’s release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s redacted report, which found no evidence of collusion and did not draw a conclusion on whether Trump obstructed justice. Despite various ongoing congressional investigations of Trump, which the president has vowed to fight, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not want to pursue it. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., known for rallying supporters with her cries to “impeach 45,” now seems hesitant. And Hillary Clinton has cautioned House Democrats in a Washington Post op-ed against immediately launching impeachment proceedings against Trump and urged the party to widen its platforms to a more “sensible agenda” for the upcoming elections. Jewish group calls for controversial freshman lawmaker’s removal from committees, Democratic Party One of America’s oldest Jewish organizations called Wednesday for U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., to be removed from congressional committees and from the Democratic Party. In an editorial posted on its website, the Zionist Organization of America, which dates to 1897, pointed to what it described as Tlaib’s “anti-Israel record,” and accused the freshman congresswoman of associating with “terrorists, anti-Semites and conspiracy theorists.” “Rashida Tlaib’s anti-Israel record was already well-known before she was elected in last year’s midterm elections,” the ZOA article asserts. Since taking office in January, Tlaib has been a lightning rod for criticism from Republicans as well as from members of her own party. Blockbuster numbers anticipated for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ “Avengers: Endgame” hits U.S. movie theaters nationwide on Thursday night and marks the highly anticipated conclusion to a decade-long run for the Disney-owned Marvel series, which reintroduced several classic superheroes to modern audiences. “Avengers” has been one of Disney’s most bankable film franchises at the box office. Fox Business breaks down “Avengers: Endgame” by the numbers.

U.S. State Department warns of possibility of more attacks in Sri Lanka BUZZFEED EDITOR TAKES SRI LANKA SHOT AT TRUMP: A BuzzFeed News world editor faced backlash Sunday for taking a swipe at President Trump while tweeting an article about the attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter …”Suspect we’d be hearing a lot more outrage from Trump and co. if the Christians killed in Sri Lanka were white,” Miriam Elder tweeted with a link to BuzzFeed News. Elder’s tweet had received more 6,000 replies, 179 retweets and 423 likes as of early Monday morning. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., chair of the House Oversight Committee, signaled that Democrats are not yet concerned about the possibility of “Russia fatigue” and warned ominously on Sunday that “the Russians aren’t getting tired” and are “attacking our electoral system every single day.” Cummings previewed new lines of investigation against Trump and said it might be necessary to hear testimony from former White House Counsel Don McGahn and Mueller himself. In addition, Cummings neither fully endorsed, not rejected the idea of pursuing impeachment against Trump. 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren and freshman Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. have all called for impeachment. But other Democrats, including Maryland House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and 2020 presidential candidates Reps. Tim Ryan and Tulsi Gabbard have also said impeachment proceedings would be premature or misguided. (Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, weighed in on the prospects of impeaching Trump and more on “Fox News Sunday.” Click on the video above to watch the full interview.) Meanwhile, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-NY, argued on Sunday that, despite Mueller deciding not to charge President Trump with obstruction of justice, he believes there is still plenty of evidence of obstruction and wondered why Donald Trump Jr. isn’t facing charges for the infamous Trump Tower meeting with Russian operatives in June 2016. REPORT: U.S TO SANCTION FIVE NATIONS OVER IRANIAN OIL – The Trump administration is set to inform five nations that they will no longer be exempt from U.S. sanctions if they continue to import oil from Iran, reports said Sunday … Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to announce the policy move on Monday, which would no longer renew sanctions waivers for allies Japan, South Korea, and Turkey. The other countries no longer exempt are China and India. The waivers for sanctions will expire on May 2. AOC FACING EARLY RE-ELECTION CHALLENGE: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ssurging national profile has inspired a trio of Republican opponents from her home district— along with a multimillionaire mystery donor who could help close the gap in her foes’ long-shot race against her … Just three months after taking office, the Democratic socialist congresswoman’s challengers include an Egyptian American journalist, who has already tossed her hat in the ring, and an NYPD cop-turned-high-school-civics teacher and conservative talk-radio producer, both of whom are seriously exploring a run against her. And the fledgling challengers could get help from a wealthy New Yorker committed to backing an Ocasio-Cortez opponent, the New York Post reports.

Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Keith Ellison, all identify themselves with Islam. And because they were sworn into congress using the Quran, which teaches lying as a virtue, they can legally lie to the American people so long as it benefits Islam.

Ever since Muhammad died fourteen-hundred years ago, so-called “radical” Muslims have dedicated their lives to an endless war against Christians and Jews. And moderate Muslims claim that the Quran is misunderstood, and that violent jihad is not true Islam.

But the difference between a religion that accidentally inspires mass murder, and one that deliberately inspires mass murder, is meaningless. When you see the true history of Islam, there is no rational excuse for any righteous person to defend it.

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., says she will add her name to an impeachment resolution aimed at President Donald Trump following the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

The proposal, put forward by lawmaker Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., calls on the House Judiciary Committee to probe whether or not the president committed any offenses that rise to the level of impeachment.

“Mueller’s report is clear in pointing to Congress’ responsibility in investigating obstruction of justice by the president,” she tweeted Thursday night.

“It is our job as outlined in Article 1, Sec 2, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution,” Rep. Ocasio-Cortez added. “As such, I’ll be signing onto @RashidaTlaib’s impeachment resolution.”

Mueller did not charge Trump for obstruction, but detailed numerous examples in his 448-page report released Thursday in which Trump asked his aides to take actions that would have obstructed the Russia probe.

“With respect to whether the president can be found to have obstructed justice by exercising his powers under Article II of the Constitution, we concluded that Congress has the authority to prohibit a president’s corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice,” Mueller wrote.

“The president’s efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful, but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the President declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests,” the special counsel added.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., urged people to join with her in a hunger strike in an attempt to shut down U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), The Washington Free Beacon is reporting.

Her comments came during a fundraiser in Detroit last weekend for the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, the Free Beacon reported. She said Congress is unwilling to abolish ICE.

A video of a woman, reported to be Tlaib, is posted on the Free Beacon website The Free Beacon said the video was captured by America Rising, a conservative group; In the video, the woman is seen addressing an audience and saying: “I want you all to shut them down. We can shut them down. Don’t wait for this Congress to act, shut them down.

“I know what they’re going to say, they’ll go, ‘What do you mean Rashida?’ Well I’ll tell you. There are some people that are using (a) hunger strike, all these other things, going to the border, and I plan to.”

The Free Beacon said she was also critical of her Democratic colleagues, who she claimed were too “strategic” and reject plans to abolish ICE because they’re “not ready for that now.”

Outspoken actor James Woods says firebrand freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., is a “blessing in disguise” for conservatives in 2020.

In a tweet, Woods responded to conservative commentator Mark Levin’s declaration he “won’t be silenced from criticizing America-hating anti-Semite Omar.”

The 71-year-ol Woods argued Omar “genuinely doesn’t recognize” the “deeply embedded” hatred she espouses.

He tweeted:

“While her loathing of America and hatred of Jews is gut-wrenching, she may hand us the  #2020Election singlehandedly. So let her bile flow freely. She is a blessing in disguise.”

Rep. Omar has come under fire for her controversial comments about Israel, and U.S. support of the nation — and most recently, for comments that were interpreted by conservatives as dismissive of the 9/11 terror attacks.

In a CNN interview this week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., argued there is “no taint” of anti-Semitism within the Democratic Party, and said she had not spoken to Omar about her controversial comments.

Woods also weighed in on the Pelosi remarks, including her claim far-leftisists in her party are only “like five people.”

“You are a memorial postage stamp at best,” Woods mocked, dismissing progressive women in Congress as “#ThreeWitchesOfTheEast,” in what may have been a slam at Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Omar, Western Journal reported.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) says that a ‘glass of water’ could be elected in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) district if it ran as a Democrat.

The House Speaker seemed to downplay the young congresswoman’s success in toppling longtime incumbent Joe Crowley in what was regarded by many as one of the biggest upsets in the 2018 midterm elections.

“When we won this election, it wasn’t in districts like mine or Alexandria’s,” Pelosi told an audience at the London School of Economics and Political Science. “She’s a wonderful member of Congress, I think all of our colleagues would attest.”

“But those are districts that are solidly Democratic,” Pelosi said while picking up a water glass from the table. “This glass of water would win with a ‘D’ next to its name in those districts.”

Pelosi clarified that she didn’t mean to “diminish” the “exuberance and personality” of Ocasio-Cortez and her contemporaries, such as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — all first-term congresswomen who represent an insurgency of radical socialists within the party.

Pelosi’s remarks came immediately following an interview with 60 Minutes in which she rejected the young revolutionaries as a threat to her power.

“You have these wings — AOC and her group on one side…” said host Lesley Stahl, in reference to new factions forming in the Democrat Party.

“That’s like five people,” Pelosi interjected.

And days before, in an interview with USA Today, Pelosi took a thinly-veiled shot at Ocasio-Cortez’s popularity on social media, saying, “While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have a large number of votes on the floor of the House.”

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) called for President Trump’s impeachment despite repeated pleas by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi not to bring up that subject ahead of the 2020 election.

“I think you could reach in a bag and pull so many things out that are impeachable of this President,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a Sunday interview. “I support impeaching this President.”

The remarks came the same day Pelosi appeared on “60 Minutes” to downplay Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist influence on the Democrat Party after her leadership was called into question, saying the socialist wing of the party comprises of “like five people.”

(Start at 8:00 min)

Lesley Stahl: “So you are contending with a group in Congress: Over here on the left flank are these self-described socialists, on the right, these moderates. And you yourself said that you’re the only one who can unify everybody. And the question is can you?”

Nancy Pelosi: “By and large, whatever orientation they came to Congress with, they know that we have to hold the center. That we have to be m– go down the mainstream.”

Stahl: “They know that –”

Pelosi: “They do.”

Stahl: “But it doesn’t look like that. It looks as if it – you’re – it’s fractured.”

Stahl: “You have these wings — AOC, and her group on one side –”

Pelosi: “That’s like five people.”

Stahl: “No, it’s– the progressive group is more than five.”

Pelosi: “Well, the progressive– I’m a progressive. Yeah.”

Stahl then pointed out several policies being championed by socialists, such as Medicare For All, that Pelosi had either dismissed or criticized.

Stahl: “Well, as I understand it the progressives want radical change. They wanna get rid of Obamacare and replace it with Medicare for all. I was under the impression that you had said that you do not favor Medicare for all, that– ACA, Obamacare is better.”

Pelosi last month tried to get the far-left wing of her caucus to pivot from impeachment talks after Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) submitted an impeachment resolution to Congress.

“I’ve made it really clear on impeachment,” Pelosi said. “Everybody can do whatever they want to do but that’s not a place where we are right now. Right now, we are talking about health care, we are talking about climate and building the infrastructure of America in a green way. Just like we promised in the campaign. That is what we are spending our time on.”

The fact is, Pelosi has almost no practical power over her liberal base compared to Ocasio-Cortez when it comes to setting the far-left agenda like the Green New Deal, as several Democrat presidential contenders have come out in support of the far-left’s socialist platform.

In addition to AOC, several prominent Democrats and the media are still calling for Trump’s impeachment.

“What more do we need to know? Impeachment is the only answer,” said Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) last month.

White House counsel Kellyanne Conway on Sunday taunted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., asserting there’s rancor among the Democrat rank-and-file that’s causing “trouble in Pelosi paradise.”

In an interview on NBC News’ “Meet The Press,” Conway declared new Democrat House members are “upset with the leadership.”

“There is a great frustration against rank and file members who represent districts that President [Donald] Trump won in 2016,” she said. “They have been to the White House, talked to people like me quietly, saying they wish that the radical… freshmen who get the magazine covers and all the ink and air time, I guess they are upset with the leadership today.”

Conway went on, saying Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., “tweeted they are tired of being used because the party is diverse, can’t get a seat at the table, something… re-tweeted by [Rep.] Ilhan Omar [D-Minn.].”

“I think there is trouble in Pelosi paradise,” Conway said.

Conway also declared the immigration problems in the country could be fixed “easily” but that Democrats are too anti-Trump to get the job done.

“Congress can fix this easily,” she said. “All the time that they spend reacting to every single Donald Trump tweet or the president’s statements, they can sit down and do three things.”

According to Conway, the three fixes would be to address trafficking victims, fix a judicial decision on filing asylum claims and to “fix the asylum law so those who actually have a credible claim of asylum can have that process faster. “

Congressional Democrats are displaying ‘Transgender Equality’ flags outside their offices in protest of the so-called military ‘trans ban’ proposed by the Trump administration.

The National Center for Transgender Awareness announced that the flags had been delivered to every member of Congress as part of ‘Trans Visibility Week.’

“To mark this year’s Trans Visibility Week, we’ve done something UNPRECEDENTED: With the help of community members & volunteers, we delivered trans pride flags to EVERY member of the Congress, from every party, including voting members and non-voting delegates,” the group tweeted. “Our request: Fly them outside your office for Trans Visibility Week.”

Many Democrats have complied, sharing photographs to social media calling the military policy “hateful” and an act of “bigotry.”

House Democrats passed a non-binding resolution opposing the partial ban on transgender military personnel this week. Only five House Republicans joined them.

The Supreme Court has ruled the restrictions can be implemented, however transgender troops will reportedly be allowed to serve if they do so as their biological sex, and other transgender personnel already serving will be grandfathered in.

A Smithsonian poll published in January revealed only 39% of active and retired servicepeople supported transgenders serving in the military.
